The three songs to be performed on this concert are drawn from The Dream of Now, Wallach’s  cycle of six reflective songs.

Let Evening Come, based on one of Jane Kenyon’s final  poems,  written as Kenyon came to accept her rapidly approaching death.   She  observes her life’s multitude of beauties and blessings and sees her own death as a natural part of life’s landscape.

When Lost in the Forest  is based on a poem by David Wagoner and reflects the Pacific Northwest  Indians’ appreciation of nature’s wisdom.

The Dream of Now, a song from which the cycle draws its name, is based on William Stafford’s meditation on the ephemeral nature of life and the mystery of evolving consciousness.
